Saints Fall Short, 4-3, at Victoria
|
The Victoria Capitals did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Trois-Rivieres Saints at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. Nobody did more than pitcher Ken Lavigne, who captured player of the game honors. Lavigne, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. Picking up the save was John McIlmoyle, his 2nd.
Victoria took a 4-3 lead on Michael Hanna's 13th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Hanna hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Trois-Rivieres pitcher John Hussey visibly frustrated.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Hanna told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
The Capitals improve their record to 7-5 with the win over Trois-Rivieres.
