Leighton Powers Stars Offense
|
Rick Leighton powered the Niagara Stars to a win over the Trois-Rivieres Saints. The final score was 8-5. The Niagara designated hitter was phenomenal. He stroked 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Niagara reliever Gary Jarrett picked up the win, while Aaron Menard took the loss for Trois-Rivieres. The Stars, now 4-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Leighton broke a deadlock in the bottom of the eighth inning, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run, putting Niagara up, 6-5.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Niagara manager Danny Stuessy.
