Saint John Drops Another One, 7-5
|
The Springfield Sentries beat the Saint John Alpines, 7-5, at Sentries Park. Springfield left fielder Manuel Vasquez banged out 1 single and 2 doubles, while driving in 3 runs. Earning his 1st save of the year was Travis Lambert. The Sentries, at 37-49, have now won 5 straight.
With Springfield leading 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Vasquez came up to bat against Saint John pitcher Mario Olvera. Vasquez hit a cutter to left-center for a bases-clearing double. His 5th double of the season put the Sentries on top, 6-0.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Saint John skipper Clarence Byrd.
