Cavaliers Come Up Short at North Carolina
|
The Virginia Cavaliers got a sterling performance from pitcher Matt Stephens, but the Tar Heels still prevailed, 5-4. Stephens was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. North Carolina now sits in 13th place in the Ron Fraser Division at 23-23.
Scott Feldheim aided the North Carolina cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Virginia manager Rémy Coutant. "But we decided not to take it."
