Saint John Downs Springfield, 2-0
|
Saint John right-hander Bill Valdes pitched his team to victory over the Springfield Sentries at Sentries Park. The final score was 2-0. Bill Valdes picked up the win in relief for Saint John, while Danny Carabello took the loss. Angelo Cacciola earned the save for Saint John.
Bernie Quezada came through with a big-time hit for Saint John. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-0. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Chad Baumann.
Despite the win, the Alpines still have a pitiful 24-61 record.
