Sycamores Clip Wolverines in Tight Contest

Kevin Akers helped his team muscle past the Michigan Wolverines, 4-1. In the game, the Indiana State pitcher threw 5 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Stephen Brinkley in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Grant Thompson took the loss. Wade DesMarais earned the save for Indiana State, his 10th.
Indiana State relied on the hitting of Jordan Davi to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Sycamores on top, 3-1. For the game, Davi had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Indiana State manager Isei Azuma.
