Roger Cortez of the Maulers was unstoppable in his team's 24-4 victory over the Aiken Thoroughbreds at Aiken Stadium. He battered them for 5 hits in 7 at-bats.

"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Martinsburg third baseman after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-for-7 won't hurt your batting average like 0-for-5 will."

Roger Cortez singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Ruben Hernandez in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Ernesto Castellanos in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
