Thrilling Victory Pushes Blue Jays Win Streak to 7
|
The Toronto Blue Jays did just enough to sneak past the Saint John Alpines, 3-2, at Alpines Field. Toronto pitcher Angel Candelaria, in particular, had a standout performance. Jeff Ferguson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 4-0. The wins continue to add up for Toronto. The latest makes it 7 in a row.
Toronto used a timely hit from John Welcome to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Toronto manager Bryan Fulcher.
