Big Day for Sweet as Sun Devils Down Cardinals, 14-5
The Arizona State Sun Devils defeated the Stanford Cardinals, 14-5, at Ballpark of Aptos Hills-Larkin Valley College. Arizona State left fielder Josh Sweet had a superb performance. He slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 and driving in 4. Arizona State reliever Kevin Helton got the win, raising his record to 4-0. Seth Majewski was tagged with the loss. Arizona State currently is in third place in the Cliff Gustafson at 28-16.

In the bottom of the sixth, Arizona State first baseman Ken Varnon had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Varnon stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 7-5, Arizona State. For the game, he went 2-5 with 2 singles. He scored 2 times.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Sweet said after the game.
