Richards, Cyclones Too Much for Crimson Tide
Seth Richards impressed in the 13-5 Iowa State win over Alabama. Richards went 2 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 4. The win belonged to Jeff Raether in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Mike Palmateer took the loss for Alabama. The Cyclones improved their record to 27-16 by beating Alabama.

Brian Hester had a big grand slam home run for the Cyclones in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Iowa State leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he sized up a slider from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Palmateer and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Cyclones on top, 7-2.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Richards.
