Reyes Hits 4 Homers Against Gamecocks
|
Juan Reyes victimized South Carolina Gamecocks hurlers, smashing 4 home runs in a herculean effort that will go down in the Skip Bertman League record books.
In an epic hitting spree at Scandals Ballpark, the Wake Forest right fielder went downtown again and again, leading the Demon Deacans to a win, 10-7. He went 4-for-5, drove in 7 runs and scored 4 times in the historic game.
"The first ones just happened," he said later, discussing the game. "However, that last time, I was swinging for the fences -- and WHAM -- I nailed it."
Juan Reyes hit a two-run home run off Jérôme Lejeune in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jérôme Lejeune in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Maurice Washington in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Rich Wittman in the 7th, walked in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
In 40 games this year, Reyes has posted a .318 average and put up these numbers: 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
