A good performance from first baseman Eric Landes helped the Iowa State Cyclones defeat the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 9-7. Landes slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Cyclones. Iowa State reliever Paul Allen picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Eric Lewis was saddled with the loss. Oklahoma State has now lost 5 in a row.

Iowa State used the timely hitting of Wade Whitehead to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cyclones ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Iowa State skipper Felipe Arreola.
