Sycamores Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Hurricanes
|
Getting a good performance from right fielder Kevin Akers, the Indiana State Sycamores defeated the Miami Hurricanes, 4-2. Akers went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk for the Sycamores. Adam Combs picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Brent Slater was tagged with the loss. Ryan Walser picked up the save, his 2nd.
Akers came through with some timely hitting for Indiana State. With the score 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth and one down, Akers hit a first pitch fastball for a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season made it 3-1, Indiana State.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Indiana State manager Isei Azuma.
The win puts the Sycamores at 21-21, while the Hurricanes drop to 19-23.
