In a low-scoring contest between the South Illinois Salukis and the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Pete Anspach was the X factor. The South Illinois right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. South Illinois reliever Kyle Denman picked up the win, raising his record to 2-3. Jack Adams was tagged with the loss. South Illinois has now won 5 straight, while the Cowboys have lost 4 in a row.
Gary Bolen drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for South Illinois. The 19-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Kevin Cassaro. It was his 55th RBI of the season.
