Donoghue Excels, But Bulldogs Win
Despite a great performance by Oregon right fielder Nate Donoghue, the Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated the Ducks by the score of 12-7 at Crunch Ballpark. Donoghue went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Mike Southard in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Luis Mosqueda took the loss. Brian Burkey earned the save for Mississippi State, his 1st of the year.

Mississippi State relied on the bat of Mark Penta to get the win. The catcher ripped a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bulldogs ahead, 10-7. For the game, Penta had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"Been a rough stretch for us," said Oregon manager Peter Hawkins.

Oregon, at 21-19, has lost 5 straight.
