Longhorns Turn Back Fresno State, 8-6

A nice crowd turned out to see the Texas Longhorns and Fresno State Bulldogs clash at Brooks College Grounds.
The Texas Longhorns picked up a win at Brooks College Grounds, knocking off the Fresno State Bulldogs, 8-6. Starting pitcher Chris Miles, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Miles, now 3-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 11, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs.
Texas used the bat of Jason Mahan to capture the win. The left fielder jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Longhorns ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Mahan told the Texas Citizen. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The 16th-place Longhorns are now 19-21, the Bulldogs 30-10.
