3-1 Loss Extends Victory Lakes Skid
The Saint John Alpines rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Casey Loperfido to a win, beating the Victory Lakes Crawfish, 3-1, at Alpines Field. The slumping Crawfish have dropped 11 in a row.

Felix Ortiz had a big solo home run for the Alpines in the bottom of the third inning. With Saint John leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Guerrero and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Alpines on top, 2-0.

"We need to step it up, period," said an agitated Victory Lakes manager Sam Reynolds.
