Sun Devils Survive Slugfest, Beat Bulldogs, 14-12
The Arizona State Sun Devils defeated the Fresno State Bulldogs, 14-12, at Brooks College Grounds. Arizona State right fielder Craig Stein had a superb performance. He went 4-6 with a triple and 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win went to Ben Forte in relief. His record improves to 1-0. William Wade took the loss. The Sun Devils are now 27-12.

In the top of the third, the Sun Devils took the lead, 6-3, when 19-year old first baseman Ken Varnon got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Arizona State skipper Ewan Pethick. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
