The UCLA Bruins defeated the California Golden Bears, 6-4, at Prisoners Ballpark. UCLA catcher Danny Flach was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Bruins saw their win-loss record go to 17-21. At the same time, the Golden Bears fell to 18-20.
UCLA used the bat of Kevin Elliott to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Bruins ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Elliott told a UCLA Today reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
