Beats Shimmy Past Blue Jays, 8-7
|
The Kingston Beats clipped the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-7, in 12 innings at Beats Park. The standout performance belonged to Kingston pitcher and Playa del Carmen, Mexico, native Jose Benitez. Yes, it was a win for Kingston; but their 17-51 mark is nothing to crow about.
The decisive blow was delivered by Dave Dimond Jr. in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a solo home run off 21-year old right-handed pitcher Sean Meloche to win the game for Kingston. The home crowd went nuts.
"When you think about it," Benitez said, "there's often a fine line between triumph and tragedy. One pitch, one swing of the bat can make all the difference."
