Ellis Slugs 49'ers to 4-3 Win
The Long Beach State 49'ers turned back the Oregon State Beavers, 4-3, at Palisades Ballpark. Jim Ellis was named player of the game for his fine performance. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The 49'ers, at 23-13, sit in second place in the Cliff Gustafson.

Ellis had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-0 fastball from Michael Burns, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the 49'ers a 4-3 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Ellis.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ellis. "And not try to do too much."
