Leprechauns Tack 8-5 Loss on Aiken
|
Aiken Stadium was the site for RCL LA action featuring the Aiken Thoroughbreds and Royal Oak Leprechauns.
Behind the bravura of center fielder Carlos Santiago, the Royal Oak Leprechauns topped the Aiken Thoroughbreds by the score of 8-5. Santiago went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Leprechauns. Brandon Cockrell picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-0. He struck out 6 in 7.2 innings.
Matt Cox was 1 for 4 with a walk for Royal Oak. The 20-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Sergio Rivera. It was his 32nd RBI of the season.
Santiago told the Royal Oak Times: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
The loss makes Aiken 53-13.
