Cougars Come Up Short at Long Beach State
|
The Long Beach State 49'ers eked out a 5-4 win versus the Washington State Cougars at Ballpark of Macclenny College. Nobody did more than pitcher Johnny Miller, who captured player of the game honors. Cody Rising earned the save, his 9th. The 49'ers have an impressive 22-13 record.
Had John Perazzo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Perazzo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the 49'ers.
"I was able to get good plays made behind me," Miller said. "And I was able to make pitches when I needed to make pitches."
