Fransen goes 4-for-5 as Tigers Squeeze Past Oklahoma
|
Clemson beat Oklahoma at Biglerville College Fields, escaping with a 9-8 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Chad Fransen, who earned player of the game honors. He was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Ken Perrone got the win, improving to 3-2. He worked 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. The save went to Phil Crumb, his 3rd this season.
Clemson relied on the hitting of Stephen Arnold to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Tigers on top, 3-1. For the game, Arnold had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Clemson manager Ralph Prince.
The Tigers, now 18-17, have won 4 in a row.
