Akers Dazzles in Indiana State Win
|
Fans at Field of the Plunder were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Georgia Bulldogs take on the Indiana State Sycamores.
With pitcher Kevin Akers leading the charge, the Indiana State Sycamores defeated the Georgia Bulldogs, 3-0, at Field of the Plunder. Akers, who is tied for 10th in the SBL with a 2 quality starts, threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Gabe Dickinson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Akers scattered 1 hit over 6.1 innings for the Sycamores. With the win, Akers goes to 1-3 on the year with 40 strikeouts.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Akers. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
Indiana State now sits in 10th place in the Ron Fraser Division at 18-17.
