Gouveia Goes Deep Twice, Helps Cougars Top Atlantics, 7-1
|
The exploits of designated hitter Aleixos Gouveia helped the Victoria Cougars defeat the Cuautitlan Izcalli Atlantics, 7-1. Gouveia was 3-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Victoria is now 38-25.
Gouveia contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Victoria in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Gouveia took a fastball from Tatsuki Sato and stroked the home run to right. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Cougars to leap in front, 2-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Victoria manager Tony Varela.
