49'ers Keep Streak Alive With 3-1 Win
|
The 49'ers had to overcome a fine effort from Texas pitcher Josh Boykin to grab a narrow 3-1 win at Ballpark of Macclenny College. Boykin went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The winner was Long Beach State reliever Trevor Dickerson, now 1-0. The loser was Josh Boykin. Getting the save was Cody Rising, his 7th.
Jorge Medina chipped in for Long Beach State with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 1 run batted in.
Medina said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
