The Royal Oak Leprechauns beat the Rancho Cucamonga, 8-5, at Steelers Park. The Leprechauns got a fine performance from first baseman Tim McCay, who went 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Willie Aguilar earned the save for Royal Oak, his 8th of the year. Royal Oak has now won 4 in a row.
With Royal Oak leading 6-5 in the top of the seventh, McCay hit a 2-run single off Rancho hurler Willie Ochoa. It was the 49th hit of the season for McCay and put his team ahead, 8-5.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," McCay told the Royal Oak Times. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
