Aiken Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Aiken Thoroughbreds topped the Santa Clara Vampyres, 5-4, in TML LA action at Aiken Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Aiken pitcher Sal Santiago. Ruben Garcia picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Bobby Serrano was tagged with the loss. The Thoroughbreds, at 41-17, lead by one game in their division.
Roberto Gonzales was the walk-off hero for Aiken. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Thoroughbreds center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I was a little disappointed," said Santa Clara manager Dan Steiner. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
