Beats Drop Sentries, 6-5
|
In a tight contest at Sentries Park, the Kingston Beats edged the Springfield Sentries by the score of 6-5. Kingston third baseman Juan Maldonado, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Dan Devaney, the winner, goes to 4-8. He allowed 3 runs on 10 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts over 7.2 innings. Diego Alanis earned the save for Kingston, his 5th of the year.
Kingston designated hitter Carlos Aguilar contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 27th hit of the season and put the Beats ahead, 6-0.
"Juan raked," said Kingston manager David Duarte.
The win gives the Beats a record of 15-43.
