Curt Beresford was instrumental in his team's 11-4 triumph over the North Carolina Tar Heels. The third baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Florida State Seminoles. Reliever Kurt Kania picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. John Bostic took the loss. Florida State has now won 5 straight.

The Seminoles got a big at-bat from designated hitter Chris Donnelly. For the game, Donnelly was 2-5 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 5th double of the season gave Florida State a 5-3 lead.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Florida State manager Kumar Hament.
