Tar Heels Go Down to Defeat, 7-5
|
The Vanderbilt Commodores knocked off the North Carolina Tar Heels, 7-5, at Bruisers Ballpark. Jimmy Barnett, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Vanderbilt won. The shortstop went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 times. Jonathan Roussel was credited with the save for Vanderbilt, his 7th of the season. Vanderbilt is now 17-13, North Carolina 15-15.
Vanderbilt pinch hitter Aaron Brown had a key at-bat for the Commodores in the top of the ninth inning. Facing North Carolina pitcher Koto Ikeda, Brown hit a 2-run single to make the score 7-5, Vanderbilt. For the day, he went 1-1, while adding 2 RBI.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Brown.
