Pipers Earn Late 2-1 Win
|
The Rancho Cucamonga got a superb performance from pitcher Fernando Baldovinos. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Carlos. The Pipers won the game, 2-1. Baldovinos threw 8.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Gabriel Carrillo earned the win. Fernando Baldovinos, who is tied for 7th in the TLA in holds with 2, took the loss for Rancho. San Carlos is now 10-43.
San Carlos used the timely hitting of Robby Perches to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pipers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Pipers manager Chris Santacroce.
