California Topples LSU, 7-5
|
The LSU Tigers got a sterling performance from designated hitter Matt Snider, but the California Golden Bears still prevailed, 7-5. Snider was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Eric Redmond was the winner. He's now 2-0. The loser was 20-year old left-handed pitcher George Fielding. Keith Russo earned his 8th save, after closing out the game.
California used the hitting of Troy Buckman to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Golden Bears on top, 7-2. For the game, Buckman had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Buckman said after the game.
At 13-17, the Golden Bears claim 17th place in the Cliff Gustafson.
