Tar Heels Cut Down Cowboys, 6-3
|
Starting pitcher Ray Thompson pitched well enough to help the North Carolina Tar Heels beat the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 6-3. Danny Villa got credit for the save for North Carolina. It was his 5th of the year. North Carolina is 5th in the Ron Fraser Division with a record of 19-11.
North Carolina took a 6-3 lead on John Hamilton's 14th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which Hamilton hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Oklahoma State pitcher Adam Nowack visibly frustrated.
After the game, North Carolina manager Barrett Jackson applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
