Mojave turned a good effort from starter Luis Vargas into a win over the Springfield Sentries at Sentries Park. The Rattlers won the game, 6-2. Vargas yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 4-4. The Rattlers, at 24-28, sit in 4th place in the TML LA East Division.
Mojave second baseman Edgar Diaz contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 43rd hit of the season and put the Rattlers ahead, 5-2.
"I got in a good groove," said Vargas. "I was getting some swings and misses."
