Riding the 2-hit performance of the 20-year old center fielder Manny Gomez, the Victoria Cougars stopped the Estación Juanita Red Wings, 4-2, in 9 innings. Joe Pierce recorded the save for Victoria, his 14th of the season. Victoria, now 30-18, holds down third place in the RCL LA West Division.

Alex Navarro had a big 2-run double for the Cougars in the bottom of the first inning. With Victoria leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Ruiz and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cougars ahead, 3-0.

In postgame remarks, Gomez applauded his team's "resolve."
