Saint John Gets 4-3 Win Versus Brighton in 10
|
The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
The Saint John Alpines beat the Brighton Steelhounds, 4-3, in 10 innings. Saint John first baseman Doug O'Berry, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI. Saint John reliever Eiji Nakamura snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ricky Villegas shouldered the loss.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, O'Berry hit a fastball from Ricky Villegas for a run-scoring single. The Alpines, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," O'Berry said.
The Alpines raised their record to 39-8.
