Hurricanes Go Down to Defeat, 7-3
|
North Carolina and Miami met at Gremlins Ballpark in front of a lively crowd.
Dave Kelch was superb against Miami. The right-hander had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a 7-3 Tar Heels victory. In 6.1 innings, Kelch surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Matt Rodgers closed it out for his 6th save.
With two out in the top of the second, Chris Harrell stroked a go-ahead run-scoring double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put North Carolina in front, 1-0.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Harrell. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
The Tar Heels now have a mark of 13-12.
