49'ers Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Bruins
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Long Beach State 49'ers and the UCLA Bruins, Brian Ricci was the difference-maker. The Long Beach State right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 2-1 win. Long Beach State reliever Ray Sherwood picked up the win to move to 1-0. Mike Williams suffered the loss. Cody Rising earned the save for Long Beach State, his 4th.
John Kersey chipped in for Long Beach State, stroking a crucial single in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 4.
"Enjoyed this one," Ricci told the Long Beach State Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The 49'ers improve their record to 12-12 with the win over UCLA.
