The timely hitting of Jimmy Chesnutt helped the Fresno State Bulldogs down the Houston Cougars, 14-1. Chesnutt went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Bulldogs. Fresno State, now 14-10, holds down 6th place in the Cliff Gustafson.

Shawn Shorter had a big 3-run home run for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the second inning. With Fresno State leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Davy Moeller and swatted a home run to right. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bulldogs ahead, 4-0.

Houston manager Derrick Cable called the blowout loss "just something that happens."
