Pipers Fall Hard to Cuautitlan Izcalli, 14-0
|
The Cuautitlan Izcalli Atlantics pinned a convincing loss on the San Carlos Pipers, 14-0, at Atlantics Grove. Victor Quiroz was a main factor in the win. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for Cuautitlan Izcalli. Alfredo Canales went 8 innings, allowing no runs on 4 hits. The left-hander struck out 12 and walked 2. With the win, he ups his record to 4-3 this season. The losses continue to mount for San Carlos, which has now dropped 8 in a row.
Matt Kay hit a 2-run home run off Juan de la Garza in the bottom of the first, which put the Atlantics ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Kay had 1 double, while going 2 for 5.
San Carlos manager Chris Santacroce said: "Over the course of the season, you're going to have little ruts where you're not getting the breaks and when you're not playing well. This is one of them."
