Cortez has 3 hits to Light Thoroughbreds Fuse
The Aiken Thoroughbreds beat the Cuautitlan Izcalli Atlantics, 10-9, in part because of second baseman Jose Cortez. He went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The winner was Tony de la Torre in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Victor Baltazar took the loss. Aaron Fiske got credit for the save for Aiken. It was his 7th of the year.

Aiken first baseman Henry Herrera contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 26th hit of the season and put the Thoroughbreds ahead, 10-8.

"Good team win," Herrera said. "I love it when a plan comes together."

The loss makes Cuautitlan Izcalli 24-16.
