Cavaliers Wrest Win from Tigers, 2-1
|
The Clemson Tigers wasted an inspired, 5.2-inning effort from starter Justin Allmond, falling, 2-1, to the Virginia Cavaliers in 12 innings at Ballpark of Redwood College. At 10-12, the Cavaliers find themselves in 15th place in the Ron Fraser Division.
The Cavaliers got a clutch hit from designated hitter Chris Gaertner. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Cavaliers.
Said Gaertner: "It's just one win, but it feels like more when you outlast a tough opponent."
