Big Day for Sorenson as Sooners Down Commodores, 6-4
|
The Oklahoma Sooners finished off the Vanderbilt Commodores, 6-4. Much of the credit belonged to shortstop Tyler Sorenson. Sorenson went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Sooners. The win was credited to 19-year old left-handed pitcher Andy Shaughnessy in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Shannon Hoskin took the loss. The first-place Sooners improved to 17-5.
Sorenson had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 3-1 slider from Shannon Hoskin, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Sooners a 6-4 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Sorenson.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Sorenson, "and then get after it again."
