Gomez Clouts 2 Homers in 10-6 Victoria Win

The Victoria Cougars defeated the Martinsburg Maulers, 10-6. Center Fielder Manny Gomez deserved a large share of the credit. Gomez hit 2 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice for the Cougars. Victoria reliever Jeff Kramer picked up the win to move to 1-0. Francisco Barahona suffered the loss. The loss makes Martinsburg 17-19.
Esteban Soto aided the Victoria cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman was 1-4 with a triple and a walk.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Soto.
