Humberto Munoz was instrumental in his team's 9-8, extra-inning triumph over the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The center fielder went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and 2 walks for the Rice Owls. Rice reliever Terry Kehoe picked up the win, while Stephon Ingram took the loss for Mississippi State. Rice, at 8-9, sits in 12th place in the Cliff Gustafson.

Rice got a clutch hit from Mike Schuessler. The third baseman launched a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.

"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said Owls manager Jeff Hulse.
