The Clemson Tigers stifled the Wake Forest Demon Deacans, 6-2, at Cypress Quarters College Grounds. Devin Staples, who is tied for 7th in the SBL in triples with 1, had his hitting cap on. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for Clemson. Clemson pitcher T.J. Smith earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Danny Reed suffered the loss. Eddie Guevara, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

With Clemson trailing 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Staples hit a sinker from Danny Reed for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Tigers ahead, 3-2.

"We did the things that it takes to win a game," said Staples.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 6-7.
