Sentries Suffer One-Run Loss at Rancho
|
The Rancho Cucamonga picked up a win at Steelers Park, downing the Springfield Sentries, 4-3. On the mound for Rancho was right-hander Charlie Graef, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner in relief was Fernando Baldovinos. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. Willie Ochoa collected his 2nd save.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Armando Alvarado came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Springfield pitcher Andy Perdomo, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Rancho on top, 4-3.
"That was a really good outing by Charlie," said Rancho manager Tony Vargas.
The loss drops Springfield to 11-13.
