Bears Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Baylor and UCLA duked it out at Wolverines Stadium and the Bears came out victorious.
The Baylor Bears defeated the UCLA Bruins, 6-5, in Rod Dedeaux League action at Wolverines Stadium, with Baylor designated hitter Jeff White named player of the game. Greg Myers got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. Bobby Reaper earned the save for Baylor, his 3rd.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the fifth inning. That's when second baseman Danny Stokes drew a walk. The Bears went on to win.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Stokes told the Baylor Daily News.
Even with the win, the Bears have a dismal 4-9 record.
