Thoroughbreds 1B Wichert goes 3-for-4 in Win
|
Led by 19-year-old Malachi Wichert, the Aiken Thoroughbreds knocked off the Victory Lakes Crawfish, 9-4. Wichert was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Thoroughbreds. Joe Bean got the win, improving to 5-0. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. With the win, Aiken improves its record to 22-3.
Early in the game, Wichert had a 2-run home run for Aiken. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Thoroughbreds on top, 2-0.
"Malachi was ready to go. Big day for him," said Aiken manager Bobby Hobbs.
